Kawakawa Balm

Our Kawakawa Balm is made with kawakawa-infused olive oil, slowly cold-infused for a minimum of 8 weeks to gently extract the plant’s beneficial properties. It contains no added fragrance, allowing the balm to retain its mild, distinctive natural scent.

We follow traditional Māori harvesting principles, carefully hand-selecting leaves with respect and sustainability at the forefront. Only what is needed is gathered, ensuring the ongoing health and vitality of the plant. Leaves are typically harvested in spring or early summer, when they are richest in beneficial compounds.

In alignment with Māori tradition, we may also include leaves nibbled by the kawakawa looper caterpillar, as this natural interaction is believed to stimulate the plant’s protective compounds — enhancing its potential benefits.

This respectful, reciprocal approach honours the balance of nature and ensures our kawakawa is gathered thoughtfully and sustainably.
